Jackie Chan’s highly anticipated new film, The Shadow’s Edge, has officially wrapped principal photography. Directed by renowned Chinese filmmaker Larry Yang, filming began in October 2024, utilizing the dynamic cityscape of Macau as a backdrop. This marks the second collaboration between Chan and Yang, who previously worked together on Ride On, a global success released across 30 countries. The duo aims to recapture that magic in this latest project.
In The Shadow’s Edge, Jackie Chan takes on the role of a retired surveillance expert from the Macau Police Service, called back into action to assist a team of elite young detectives in tracking down a group of cunning thieves. The film sets up a gripping confrontation between traditional police methods and cutting-edge technology, creating a thrilling battle of wits between the forces of good and evil. The movie also features an ensemble cast including Zhang Zifeng (Sister), Ci Sha (Creation of the Gods I & II), and Wen Junhui of SEVENTEEN fame. Fans will also see Chan reunite with Tony Leung Ka Fai, marking their first collaboration in nearly two decades since The Myth.
The Shadow’s Edge is produced by Victoria Hon (Ride On) and presented by iQIYI Pictures (Beijing), Tao Tickets, Hairun Pictures, and China ChenXiang. Hong Kong-based sales company Golden Network Asia will represent the film at the upcoming European Film Market, introducing it to international buyers. Golden Network Asia has previously handled several of Jackie Chan’s films, including Vanguard and Kung Fu Yoga, and is poised to make The Shadow’s Edge another standout in their lineup.
The film’s predecessor, Ride On, achieved significant success, becoming the highest-grossing Chinese film in Japan since 2022 and earning top-three box office rankings in Malaysia in 2023. With its high-stakes plot and star-studded cast, The Shadow’s Edge is poised to be a must-watch thriller that highlights Jackie Chan’s enduring ability to captivate audiences worldwide.
