Mortal Kombat II has officially made its digital streaming debut today, October 8, 2026, exclusively on JioHotstar in India. The highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 reboot arrives on the platform following its global theatrical window earlier this year, giving fans who missed it on the big screen a chance to experience the brutal, action-packed spectacle from home. JioHotstar is the exclusive subscription streaming partner for the film in India, making it the only platform where viewers can watch the martial arts fantasy epic.
Directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Jeremy Slater, Mortal Kombat II is a dark martial arts fantasy that serves as a direct sequel to the 2021 film. Following its theatrical release on May 8, 2026, the story continues with Earthrealm’s champions engaging in a lawless, no-holds-barred tournament. After Outworld emperor Shao Kahn steals Lord Raiden’s powers, the stakes are elevated to an all-out war to prevent the total destruction and assimilation of Earthrealm. The narrative promises even more intense action, brutal fatalities, and the high-stakes conflict that fans of the franchise have come to expect.
The ensemble cast features Karl Urban joining the franchise as the fan-favourite Hollywood action star Johnny Cage. Returning champions include Cole Young, played by Lewis Tan, Sonya Blade, played by Jessica McNamee, Jax, played by Mehcad Brooks, and Liu Kang, played by Ludi Lin. They unite with Princess Kitana, played by Adeline Rudolph, and Scorpion, played by Hiroyuki Sanada, to counter the tyrannical Shao Kahn, portrayed by Martyn Ford. The film streams with four audio options, including the original English alongside dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, making it accessible to a wide audience across India. With a runtime of 1 hour and 56 minutes, it delivers a compact, adrenaline-fueled experience that stays true to the spirit of the iconic video game series.
With its JioHotstar premiere, Mortal Kombat II is poised to reach a massive audience in India and continue the franchise’s growing popularity in the country. The combination of high-octane fight sequences, beloved characters, and the introduction of Johnny Cage makes it a must-watch for fans of action cinema and video game adaptations. Whether you are a longtime fan of the games or new to the Mortal Kombat universe, the film offers an exhilarating ride that brings the iconic tournament to life. Stream it now on JioHotstar and prepare for a battle that will decide the fate of Earthrealm.
