The Kerala Civil Supplies Department has confirmed that the distribution of the September 2026 ration quota will commence tomorrow, September 3, 2026 (Thursday), as today (September 2) marks the second and final day of administrative closure for all ration shops across the state. The August 2026 quota distribution officially concluded on August 31, 2026. With the two-day break for stock-taking and administrative formalities now concluding, beneficiaries are advised to visit their designated Fair Price Shops from tomorrow onwards to collect their entitled provisions. Cardholders are requested to carry their ration cards and ensure timely collection of their monthly entitlements.
The Civil Supplies Department has released the complete details of the September 2026 ration allotment for various card categories. Under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), cardholders will receive 30 kg of rice and 2 kg of wheat free of cost, along with 3 packets of atta at ₹7 per packet. For Priority Household (PHH) cardholders, each member is entitled to 4 kg of rice and 1 kg of wheat free of charge. In case wheat is unavailable, atta packets will be provided at ₹9 each. PHH cardholders can also avail additional rice of up to 3 kg per card at ₹26 per kg, subject to stock availability in their respective taluk. For Non-Priority Subsidized (NPS) cardholders, each member will receive 2 kg of rice at ₹4 per kg, along with a special allotment of 2 kg of wheat at ₹8.70 per kg. Additional quota includes up to 10 kg of rice at ₹26 per kg and up to 4 kg of atta at ₹17 per kg, subject to stock availability.
Non-Priority Non-Subsidized (NPNS) cardholders are entitled to 2 kg of rice at ₹10.90 per kg, with additional rice up to 10 kg at ₹26 per kg and up to 4 kg of atta at ₹17 per kg. Non-Priority Institutional (NPI) cardholders will receive 2 kg of rice at ₹10.90 per kg, with additional rice up to 10 kg at ₹26 per kg and up to 1 kg of atta at ₹17 per kg. All additional quotas are subject to taluk-level stock availability. Beneficiaries are requested to collect their entitlements promptly from their designated ration shops.
As part of the July-September 2026 quarterly allocation, the Department has detailed the kerosene distribution policy based on household electricity status and card categories. Households with electricity will receive: AAY cardholders will get a total of 1 liter of kerosene, while PHH, NPS, and NPNS cardholders will receive 0.5 liters each for the entire quarter. Households without electricity will receive a significantly higher allocation of 6 liters of kerosene, regardless of their card category, to compensate for their dependence on kerosene for lighting and domestic needs. The Civil Supplies Department has urged beneficiaries to ensure timely collection of their rations and to carry their ration cards when visiting the shops. Cardholders can contact their local rationing office or the department’s helpline for any queries. The department has also reminded that the kerosene allocation is a quarterly quota and must be collected within the prescribed period to avoid lapse.
